2018 Workshop Schedule:
June 14-18, 2018 Cloisonne - Variations on a Theme with an emphasis on Finishing Techniques, for Repeat Students and approved Students New to Me. - $600, 5 days 10am-5pm all materials included. New Students $90 tool kit fee. FULL
As you know, I don't often take my students through the process of grinding to a finish, leaving the class projects with a fired finish. The ground and polished finish is elusive to do well and often done badly, in my opinion. I do have a tried and true system for achieving a perfectly ground finish and would like to be able to show you how. The Variations on a Theme phase of this class will be figuring out different ways to create a series of pieces that have a common theme. We will illustrate how the way you handle the materials can change the emotional tone of the piece. Are you using opaques, transparents opalescents or a combination of them. Are you using a highly reflective base or subduing it? Are you using foils? etc. These pieces should be rather simple in nature so that at the end of the third day you will have about 4 pieces to use for the finishing technique phase of the class.
September 20-24, 2018 Small Scale Cloisonne- For Students New to Me. $600 + $90 Kit, 5 days 10am-5pm all materials included.
