Subject Painting techniques

Date
Author Jo (jiolson)

Black (underglaze) painting:
She used it in the detailing of the tabby cat fur and whiskers.
It doesn't contain silica (glass), just oxides. use like watercolor, mix with
distilled water. It looks like a little pot tray of black watercolor paste. Brush on as you would dry brush watercolor around layer 5-6. Fire separately (no enamels).
It will be dull, shine happens in next layers. If underfired, it could rub off when placing next layer. Don't fire again, just be very careful packing next layer.

Black leopard spots:
1. thin flux on silver
2. black underglaze
3. thin flux
4. wire
5. regular layering.
Technique is melamystic (the color/detail only shows in light
reflection)
